How Junk Relief Leads to Stress Relief

Something we regularly witness when clearing out a customer’s junk is the sense of peace and calm that comes over them once the job is complete.

Often, when we arrive at a customer’s home, the first words we hear are “I’m so overwhelmed” or “there’s just so much, I don’t know where to start” – and you can literally feel the sense of panic, stress – even hopelessness – in the air.

This doesn’t have to be the case. Here are our top tips for avoiding that stressed out and overwhelmed feeling, and moving straight to peace of mind and relief:

1. Give yourself enough time to declutter

Make a list of rooms and spaces that need to be decluttered or cleared, based on your specific situation. If you’re spring cleaning your home, schedule your activity over an achievable timeframe. Chances are you’ll need a number of hours over several days – which could spread across weeks if you work. If you’re preparing your home for sale, consult with your real estate agent – and ask them to connect you with their expert team to provide advice and guidance on what you’re trying to achieve. A good real estate agent will have professionals on hand to help you every step of the way. This is not a time that you should feel desperate and left out in the cold.

2. Create a plan and schedule each room or space

Once you have a list of each room or space that needs clearing – create a schedule with an achievable timeline. For example, if you have a large living room with multiple cupboards and cabinets, chances are you’ll need more than 1 hour to declutter and clean the area. Starting early means you’ll have time to do the best job possible.

3. Call the experts early

Contact Crackers’ Clearout during the planning and scheduling stage. Chat to our helpful team about what you’re trying to achieve and ask for tips on offloading items that can be reused, recycled, repurposed and donated. It’s a great feeling to donate, gift or sell items for which you no longer have use. Offloading them before the Crackers’ Clearout team arrives will save you time and money.

4. Follow expert advice and be ruthless

It’s all well and good to call the experts to discuss what you’re trying to achieving – but it’s essential to follow their advice. The Crackers’ Clearout team will provide you with:

· Ideas to donate or gift unwanted items

· Options for selling things you no longer need

· Ideas for how to contact recycling and upcycling groups in your community

Make sure you are ruthless with items. As a general rule, if you haven’t used something in 12 months, you probably don’t need it. It can be hard to part with a family heirloom, but if you are not using it, isn’t it better off with someone who will use it?

We suggest creating a few “piles” of unwanted goods, such as:

· Donate

· Gift to a family member or friend

· Sell

· Recycle

· Rubbish or junk

Please remember, if you are gifting items to a family member or friend, make sure you check that they want or need the items before dumping them on their doorstep. You may be full of good intentions, but it can be highly stressful to receive someone’s preloved items when the recipient simply doesn't have the use, space or need for them. We urge you not to make your unwanted items someone else’s problem!

5. Consider updating your storage

One of the greatest customer dilemmas we encounter is those who don’t have appropriate storage solutions to accommodate the items they need or want to keep in their home. Searching Pinterest, or looking up storage solutions at places like Ikea or Kmart can help get your items, and home, in order.

6. Get the junk removal experts to take your stress away
